Difference Between Alpha Series

Which Alpha Series should I chose?

Written by Rebecca Dorn

Below, you will find a description of each Alpha series followed by details on how to Preview them.

Each series follows the same basic script but with different presenters to accommodate your audience.

- Alpha Film Series & the Alpha Film Series with Discussion Breaks –16 talks/11 weeks - From different locations. More sensory. For millennials or mixed ages. The predominant series for Adult Alphas in the US (one talk is a brief intro to the Weekend/Day Away)

- Alpha Talks w/ Isaac – 15 talks/11 weeks - designed with an urban city audience in mind. Main speaker is styled like a Ted talk

- Alpha with Nicky Gumbel –16 talks/11 weeks - Original lecture style. Especially good for an older or senior adult audience (one talk is a brief intro to the Weekend/Day Away)

- Alpha Youth Series –10 talks/8 weeks - For 13-18 year olds, grades 6-12. More animated, lively, jovial; filmed in various locations with discussion breaks built in.

To view each series, we invite you to register a ‘Test’ course at https://app.alpha.org/us which is where you will register each Alpha you run.* Put ‘Test’ as the course name in the last step of the registration process.

On that registration, click ‘View and edit’ to switch between the series to preview the videos and other resources.

The Weekend/Day Away is the main part of your Alpha for the talks on the Holy Spirit. Those four talks are shown then, on an additional day to your normal sessions, and that keeps your Alpha at 11 weeks with 16 talks (for two series this includes a 10 min intro to the weekend).

For sample schedules go to Other Helpful Resources on the Series Materials tab of your course registration at https://app.alpha.org/us.

* We ask that you register every Alpha you run as it helps us stay funded to offer the materials for free and ensures you’re receiving all the latest and most updated resources. Our aim is to provide accurate accounts of Alphas run in the U.S. to our donors, identifying missed registrations as well as duplicate ones.

To discuss this in more detail, connect with your Alpha Specialist through https://alphausa.org/specialists/. They'll be a valuable asset for all your Alpha questions and needs.

We also invite you to attend a free online Alpha 101 or other training (be sure location is 'online'). Find and register for this on our Events page at https://alphausa.org/event-listings/. --- This and other training resources are intended to compliment the two main training videos found on the Series Materials tab of your registered Alpha at https://app.alpha.org/us.
